Congratulations to the wonderful Granite State Candy Shoppe! If you haven’t been there, I highly recommend it- they are located right on Elm Street, #832. Visit any time Monday- Saturday 10-6 or Sunday 12-5. Time your visit right and you’ll be there for their year round specials: Ice Cream Happy Hour or Buy one pound of Fudge get a half pound free (perfect for the holidays…)! The staff is super friendly, they have delicious sweet treats and have been around for a LONG time, so you know they’re doing it right.
A little history, told by those who know it best:
Peter, our Grand-dad and founder of the Granite State Candy Shoppe, came to Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1907 from a small Greek island. In Lawrence, Peter found a job as a candy maker. He learned the trade and decided to move his family to Concord and in 1927 he opened the Granite State Candy Shoppe. My Grandfather retired and returned to Greece in 1956. His sons George and Costa ran the shop together until 1995 when my uncle George retired. Truly a family affair, my mother June still works in the shop packaging chocolates as she has for almost 40 years. The store has been located on Warren Street in Downtown Concord ever since. While the shop has undergone some physical changes over the years, many of the products that my grandfather made are still available in the shop. Here is a quick description of what we do in the shop- Since 1927 The Granite State Candy Shoppe has produced the finest chocolates and candies in the State of New Hampshire. We specialize in homemade chocolates, roasted nuts, creamy fudge, truffles, sugar mints and nut brittles. While some things have changed at the Granite State Candy Shoppe, all of the original candy recipes are still in use today alongside some new creations unique to our shop. With great excitement in 2004 we completed an expansion of our store on Warren Street allowing us to return to making rich and delicious super premium ice cream, featuring the milk from the friendly cows of Contoocook Creamery. We take pride in our long family tradition and hope that you enjoy eating our candies as much as we enjoy making them. In 2012 we opened our retail shop in Downtown Manchester. Offering the same great chocolates, candies and super premium ice cream New Hampshire has come to expect. Our shop is located at 832 Elm St. We feature wonderful seasonal chocolates and confections for every holiday. Stop in for a chocolate turkey, maple sugar Santa or a gift basket for your favorite clients. We are a full service shop that can meet all of your gift giving needs with experienced staff sure to offer you a sample of our premium confections.
