While scrolling through Facebook this week I stumbled upon this post by Mint Bistro:

Now I don’t know about you, but to me the thought of sipping on a fresh mint Mojito is quintessential Summer. Bright, citrusy,  and most importantly, COLD!

Of course, the perfect summer drink differs from person to person. Some people prefer an ice cold brew. Others might like a frozen margarita. Luckily, there’s no shortage of options for icy drinks in downtown! So the next time you’re craving a brisk drink, be sure to stop by Elm Street!

What’s your favorite summer drink?

Yesterday was the first market day for The Manchester Community Market! Now, every Thursday from 3p-6:30p, you can stop in to Victory Park and pick up all kinds of fresh produce. After looking around at all the amazing vendors, and watching people stroll through the grass and trees while shopping, I think this market is going to become a downtown destination for the summer! Not only will there be fruits, veggies, and sweets like years past, The Manchester Community Market also offers fresh dairy products, artisan chocolates, all natural and organic skincare, plus so much more. To see a full list of all the vendors involved, click here.

I can’t wait to break out my market bags, and shop for fresh and local goods all summer long!

Happy #foodiefriday! I don’t know about you, but this is my favorite day of the week. Looking at all the different cuisine that Downtown has to offer gets me excited for the weekend!

Recently Julia and I have been in a bit of a lunch rut. We try to stay healthy, but our home-packed lunches aren’t quite enough. We were on the search for something simple yet exciting, and then we found the Midtown Cafe.

The Midtown cafe is a small shop inside the Beacon building on Elm Street. They serve up plenty of classics like grilled cheeses and BLT’s, but they also have plenty of fun twists! My favorite part is that you can add sriracha to any of the sandwiches they serve. I love being able to have that extra kick!

How do you all beat the lunchtime blues?

Hey y’all! Trixie here, ready to serve up our latest #foodiefriday post. With the winter weather finally upon us, Julia and I have found ourselves craving a cold-weather staple: soup!

I mean, who doesn’t love a bowlful of steaming savory goodness to remedy their cold bones? Luckily, downtown has quite a few options for fabulous soup within quick walking distance! Which is especially helpful, now that there is snow on the ground…

We’ve had soup for lunch everyday this week, starting at the Gyro spot. Their Avgolemono (a chicken and lemon soup) paired perfectly with a Greek salad. We had a Tomato and Goat cheese soup at Firefly that was so creamy, we wanted to take home buckets of it! B&B had a satisfyingly thick Italian Wedding soup and Finesse Pastries was serving up an amazing Broccoli and Cheddar. (Is your mouth watering yet?)

Today, I’ll be stopping in to A&E Coffee for their Sweet Potato and Winter Squash soup. A rich puree spiced with ginger, cumin, and cloves; perfect for all you vegetarians and vegans out there!

So, now that I’m sufficiently yearning for lunch, what are your favorite soups or soup spots? Let us know, we’d love to try them out!

Happy Friday!

Here in the office we always seem to turn to each other everyday around 11:30am and say, “I’m starving. Where should we go to lunch?” Monday we went to NHIA’s Dining Hall, Tuesday Finesse Pastries, Wednesday, Athens Greek Restaurant…and yesterday we decided to head to Bada Bing Pizza for the first time.

It took us a good five minutes to decide what to order–their menu is huge! We ended up ordering a cheeseburger with hand-cut onion rings, a pastrami sub, and a roast beef sandwich with fries. Every single thing was delicious! So much so, none of us took any pictures of our meals. Before, or after. #foodieFAIL!

Be sure to check out Bada Bing! It’s located at 946 Elm Street and their website is http://www.yougottabadabing.com

I don’t know about you, but I just love comfort food. I suppose, however, that the definition of comfort food is different for everyone. First on my list? Mac and cheese. Next? Donuts. A new addition? ANYTHING from the Gyro Spot right here on Elm Street. I had it for the first time this week (I know, I don’t know why I waited so long!) and their Gyro Fries with tzatziki and their special ‘g-sauce’ blew my socks off. I don’t only want more, but I NEED more! The Farm is also great filling in my need for comfort food. There’s nothing like a Pulled Pork Sandwich! USA Chicken posted a picture of their buffalo wings this week… yup, you guessed it, another one of my favorite comfort foods!

What is your favorite comfort food? Where downtown do you go to get your fix?
