Happy Friday, Manchester!

Yesterday Sara and I got to tour Penuche’s Music Hall at 1087 Elm Street,

and we were impressed! Their outdoor seating is brand new and custom- a beautiful and bright orange that really pops on the sidewalk!   They added balcony seating and spruced up the chandeliers. The bathrooms were completely redone to look modern and luxurious.

But the best part of all: They now serve mudslides! The perfect cold treat on a warm summer day. Penuche’s is planning to have live music as often as possible, so keep an eye out for fun shows this summer!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Did you make it out for the Taco tour last night? The weather was perfect for hopping down Elm Street, picking up tacos, and listening to live music! The Judges’ Choice winner last night was Midtown Cafe with their grilled chicken kabob taco. Although I got to try a ton of awesome tacos, I’m kicking myself for not waiting in that line!

My personal favorite taco was served by Fratello’s, but a huge shout out goes to Firefly for having an open toppings bar! What was your favorite stop?

Happy Friday, Manchester! This week’s post is brought to you by Trixie, and is dedicated to a very special woman who passed on earlier this week, Julia’s Aunt Nina.

If you’ve met Julia, you know that she’s proud of her big, crazy Italian family! Her heritage is a prevalent part of how she lives her day to day life, especially when it comes to food. After doing some research into Italian customs, I learned that food sharing is the biggest way to connect families and friends. Whether to show love in times of celebration, or show support in times of great loss, it is the Italian way to come together and share a homemade meal.

Although I never met her, I do know that Nina was a pillar of the LoCascio family, and holds a significant place in the hearts of many.

So in honor of Auntie Nina, I’d like to share this recipe for Italian Cookies with you all. May you get to share these and many more homemade recipes with your loved ones!

While scrolling through Facebook this week I stumbled upon this post by Mint Bistro:

Now I don’t know about you, but to me the thought of sipping on a fresh mint Mojito is quintessential Summer. Bright, citrusy,  and most importantly, COLD!

Of course, the perfect summer drink differs from person to person. Some people prefer an ice cold brew. Others might like a frozen margarita. Luckily, there’s no shortage of options for icy drinks in downtown! So the next time you’re craving a brisk drink, be sure to stop by Elm Street!

What’s your favorite summer drink?

It’s honestly hard to believe that Christmas is only TWO WEEKS from today! While shopping and party planning is always a big part of the Holiday season, so is giving back. Every year, for the past 21 years, Milly’s Tavern has gone above and beyond for the homeless community in Manchester.

On the morning of December 25th Milly’s Tavern will be providing Christmas breakfast for New Horizons for New Hampshire. New Horizons for New Hampshire is Manchester’s local homeless shelter that offers housing and food services to people and families in need. This is their 22nd year providing Christmas breakfast and every year they have been able to feed at least 250 people.

Leading up to Christmas day, Milly’s will throw their annual Holiday party where they will be accepting donations, clothing and non-perishable items. The night will feature a silent auction, live entertainment, as well as a buffet 100% of the proceeds of this event will go to New Horizons for New Hampshire.

Their annual Christmas Party will be held on Friday, November 18th at 7:00pm at Milly’s Tavern. View the Facebook event here for more details: https://www.facebook.com/events/532323996937341/! It will be a night of great fun, food, and awesome beer!

Happy #foodiefriday! I don’t know about you, but this is my favorite day of the week. Looking at all the different cuisine that Downtown has to offer gets me excited for the weekend!

Recently Julia and I have been in a bit of a lunch rut. We try to stay healthy, but our home-packed lunches aren’t quite enough. We were on the search for something simple yet exciting, and then we found the Midtown Cafe.

The Midtown cafe is a small shop inside the Beacon building on Elm Street. They serve up plenty of classics like grilled cheeses and BLT’s, but they also have plenty of fun twists! My favorite part is that you can add sriracha to any of the sandwiches they serve. I love being able to have that extra kick!

How do you all beat the lunchtime blues?

Memorial Day weekend is here, and with it comes food, friends, and (finally) some great weather! While this weekend is meant for honoring the fallen who have fought for our country, it is also considered the unofficial start of summer. So since most of you will be having barbecues this weekend and basking in the beautiful weather, I figured I’d dig up some Patriotic (and yummy!) recipes to help your guests remember what this weekend is all about!

Of course, if you don’t feel like cooking, you can always come to downtown!
