This lively matchup between our community heroes benefits the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD) with 100 percent of proceeds going to support critical programs and young patients at CHaD.

Representatives of police and fire departments from communities across New Hampshire bring their baseball skills to the diamond in this exciting game of good vs. good.

Players commit to raising at least $1,000 each to demonstrate their passion and support for CHaD’s mission to serve the region’s children. CHaD helps players connect with the cause behind the game by pairing them with “CHaD Buddies,” young CHaD patients who serve as special guests at the game.

Fans can get into the action by contributing to player fundraising and by wearing red or blue on game day to cheer for their community’s local heroes. Tickets are $10 each; kids 10 and under are free. Info on rosters, tickets, and more can be found at www.CHaDBaseball.org.

Monsters on the Loose | all day | Throughout Downtown

August 6, 2016, Studio 550 Art Center will release 100 little clay Monsters into Manchester’s Downtown throughout the day. All monsters will likely be out on the town by 2PM. The purpose of this activity is to have fun while encouraging residents to slow down, play like a kid, and walk their city in search of the out-of-the-ordinary.

Participants are asked to only take one. If more than one is found, participants are asked to leave those monsters to brighten someone else’s day. Participants are also encouraged to share what they discover on the Studio 550 Facebook page.

Monster Finders get the immediate reward of being able to keep the monster they find. They also have the added bonus of a beautifully crafted chocolate coin if they show their monster at Dancing Lion Chocolate at 917 Elm Street. Also, if people show their monster at Studio 550 ART CENTER, they can pull a prize out of a jar. Prizes will range from Studio merchandise, to free pottery, with the grand prize being a free 10-week class.

Each year, there has been a single albino monster in the mix. The person who finds the albino monster wins a Date Night in the Pottery Studio or a Family Clay workshop.

The Monsters will be concentrated in the heart of downtown, namely Elm Street between Bridge and Granite, and also side streets. All Monsters will be placed in public places with a lot of foot traffic and in locations that are easily visible to pedestrians. Typically, Monsters like to hide in places that people see every day, but just do not usually have a reason to keep looking. A windowsill, the corner of a bench, or a flower planter are all places Monsters like to hide, but they could be anywhere. More here!
