#FoodieFriday: Hidden Gem

So Delicious.

Mayan Drinking Chocolate

I have to say that I honestly had never been in Dancing Lion until the other day, but let me tell you, it was worth it.

You walk in and the place just smells delicious. After introducing myself to Master Chocolatier Richard Tango-Lowy, I enjoyed some drinking chocolate that was warm, frothy, spicy, indulgent, and just all around mouth-wateringly good. I also found out that everything is made from scratch and sourced locally, except for the raw chocolate, which comes from small plantations in different countries. The chocolates they create at Dancing Lion are all small batch, and because of that, no two batches ever taste the same. This place really is a chocolate lover’s, and even just chocolate liker’s, dream.

Dancing Lion even offers different chocolate (and croissant!) classes where you can learn more about chocolate and how to work with it, I feel as though there is a date night suggestion in there somewhere… It that wasn’t enough, there’s also a cafe with different chocolatey-licious drinks, a Mallorca Sandwich, different pastries, and fresh bread.

So really by now I’m expecting you to be convinced that you have the need to go visit Dancing Lion. However, I’m not done explaining the why. There’s still more, unbelievable, I know.

Every Friday, from 5:30 p.m. until 1:00 a.m., Dancing Lion has a Pop-Up Restaurant called Eterna! The menu changes every week with different dishes from different regions. Made by Chef Angelina Jacobs, this week’s menu sounds amazing, barbacoa tacos with onion, cilantro, and salsa verde, and there is even a vegetarian option! For $14.00 you get three tacos (and after 11:00 p.m., everything is $2.00 off), you can imagine how quickly seats fill up.

Dancing Lion is located at 917 Elm Street, open Tuesday-Friday 9-7, Saturday 11-7, and Sunday 12-4.
