MANCHESTER COMMUNITY MARKET | 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM | VICTORY PARK

The Manchester Community Market is held in Victory Park and offers an expansive array of locally grown items as well as NH made products. The market aims to provide a fun, weekly farmers’ market that gives the community a place to connect with friends and farmers, access local foods, and enjoy this collective event. More here.

SLAM FREE OR DIE | 7:00 PM | STARK BREWING COMPANY

On Thursday, August 25, 2016, Slam Free or Die continues its popular open mic poetry series at Milly’s Tavern. There will be a poetry open mic followed by a feature by Angelica Maria. Doors open at 7pm along with sign ups for the open mic. The show starts at 8pm. There is a $3 cover. More here.

PETER PAN – SUMMER CHILDREN’S SERIES | 10:00AM & 6:00PM | PALACE THEATER

Peter Pan and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinker Bell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night in search of his missing shadow. He takes the Darling children on the adventure of a lifetime as they unite with the Lost Boys and Tiger Lily and her pounce to defeat the villainous Captain Hook and his band of pirates.

“ETERNAL SUMMER” ART RECEPTION | 5:00 PM | TWIGGS GALERY

“Eternal Summer” is an exhibit of contemporary photography that evokes the imagery reflected in Celia Thaxter’s quote, “There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart.”

The photography conveys a sense of summer that feels lovely and timeless. Carnivals, water, children playing, gardens, the sea and summer breezes are all reflected in the work. The exhibit showcases the work of six New England artists, Shawna Gibbs, Renée Giffroy, Susan Lirakis, Maria Manolaros, Maxine McDonald and Jean Stimmell. The artist’s reception is Thursday, July 13 from 5-7 pm. The exhibit is open thru August 27, 2017 at Twiggs Gallery at 254 King Street in Boscawen. Details

FABLED: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE WORLD OF AESOP | 8:00 AM | UNIVERSITY OF UNH – MANCHESTER

Journey through the land of lessons, where creatures of all kinds struggle with their own obsessions. Some are busy, some are lazy, some just want more than their fair share. The world of Aesop is filled with stories. This free show is sure to be anything but boring! Follow along as the magnetic cast of the 2017 Little Red Wagon weaves together stories by Aesop.

UNH Manchester invites children and their families to laugh and
learn with us at the Summer Music Series. Thanks to the generous support of the Frederick Smyth Trust, all of our events are free and open to the public. Shows are held at UNH Manchester, 88 Commercial Street, Manchester. Seating is limited and an RSPV is required.

Free parking is available at 88 Commercial Street in the front and back of the building in the spots marked student parking. Additional paid parking can be found on the street and at the Center of N.H., Radisson Hotel garage.

DATE NIGHT IN THE ART STUDIO | 6:00 PM OR 7:30 PM | STUDIO 550

Date Night in the Pottery Studio is held both Friday and Saturday nights, either 6-7:30 or from 7:30-9PM! Pick your day, pick your time, and have fun! Everything for a COUPLE is included with the listed price of $60 (materials, tools, instruction, etc.).

We will guide you through a basic pottery lesson and then you will be set free on the wheel to make your own creations! One piece per person is included in the workshop, but if you make more pieces and you want to keep them, it is just $5 to keep each extra piece. The piece you make will be available for pick up three-four weeks after your date. Usually walk-ins are fine, but we encourage you to call ahead to reserve a spot. Take your Yoga outside and enjoy the beautiful New England summer! In this all-levels Hatha class at the YogaBalance Yoga Platform at Dorrs Pond, we will enjoy stretching and strengthening, movement and stillness, challenge and ease. Appropriate for all. Classes take place at Dorrs Pond, Livingston Park, 156 Hooksett Road, Manchester NH. From the Dorrs Pond parking lot, begin to walk clockwise on the trail. Continue about 0.1 miles and look for the sign for the YogaBalance Yoga platform just set back from the trail on the right.

Do you and your kids wish for an opportunity to learn about nature but have trouble finding the time?  Stop by our center any Saturday in July for “short and sweet” mini-programs and fun nature-based activities. The theme of all July ‘Saturday Nature Seekers’ program will be New Hampshire Turtles!

WALKING TOUR: PRE-CIVIL WAR MANCHESTER | 10:00 AM 12:00 PM | MANCHESTER HISTORICAL SOCIETY

This newly offered tour highlights homes and individuals who were part of the early development of Manchester when it was known as the “New Village”. In the 1840s and 1850s, residents who were to become mayors, governors, U.S. Congressmen, and industrialists lived here.

Historians John Jordan and Richard Duckoff will focus on the neighborhood clustered on Lowell, Walnut, Bridge, Union, and Beech Streets. Some familiar names: Carpenter, Varney, and Varick, lived here during their careers. Meet up at 88 Lowell St., at brick building at corner of Chestnut and Lowell Streets at start of tour.
