Weekend Watching July-13-2016

This past Sunday was the Recycled Percussion show! It was such an amazing event, even with the April weather in July! Were you there? Looking ahead to this week, we have our FIRST TD Bank FREE Concert in the Park of the season! Joining us this week will be Foreigner’s Journey–the ultimate Foreigner/Journey Tribute. The music and energy of two legendary stadium rock bands comes together in one electrifying show! We are so excited to bring them to the Veterans Park stage and we hope you’ll join us tomorrow!

A&E Coffee and Tea is celebrating their two year anniversary this weekend! Check out their events throughout the weekend below!

TD Bank FREE Concerts in the Park: Foreigner’s Journey | 7pm-9:30pm | Veterans Park

Our FREE TD Bank Concerts in the Park kick off with Foreigner’s Journey and opener Chris Cavanaugh! The music kicks off at 7:00pm! This event is free and family-friendly! Bring your friends too!

FREE Yoga and Fitness in the Park | 3pm-3:45pm | Victory Park

Beauty and the Beast | 10a & 6:30p | The Palace Theatre

Beauty and the Beast tells the story of a prince who is transformed into a hideous beast as punishment for his cruel and selfish ways, and an adventurous young woman named Belle whom he imprisons in his castle. In order to become human again, the Beast must earn Belle’s love before it’s too late. Ticket prices: $8 subscriptions, $8 for groups of 10 or more and $9 individuals. Manchester Community Market | 3pm-6:30pm | Victory Park

The Manchester Community Market is held in Victory Park and offers an expansive array of locally grown items as well as NH made products. The market aims to provide a fun, weekly farmers market that gives the community a place to connect with friends and farmers, access local foods, and enjoy this community event. More here.

SlamFree or Die | 7pm-11:30pm | Milly’s Tavern

On Thursday, July 11, 2016, Slam Free or Die continues its popular open mic poetry series at Milly’s Tavern. There will be a poetry open mic followed by a feature by the TEXT ME BACK tour. Free Kids Music Series: American Folk Tales | 2pm | UNH Manchester

A thrilling adventure through the history and tall tales of the past of America. America has a thrilling and varied history which has created some pretty interesting stories along the way. From Covered Wagons to Blue Buffalos, ‘Coon Skinned caps to Feathered Headbands. These stories not only make up our history, but bring fantastical heroes to life. This program is offered by UNH’s Little Red Wagon. Thanks to the generous support of the Frederick Smyth Trust, all of our events are FREE and open to the public. Seating is limited and events last approximately 45-minutes to one-hour. An RSVP is requested.

Latte Art Competition | 8pm | A&E Coffee and Tea

A&E Coffee & Tea is celebrating their second year anniversary in Manchester with a series of coffee and fun events running July 14 through July 17, 2016. Kicking off the celebration is a Latte Art competition starting at 8pm. This is open to area baristas who want to try their hand at latte art in a competition setting. It is a fun event for spectators to watch as the baristas pour amazing free-pour designs. All the poured drinks are FREE to spectators! More here!

Red Post Ramblers | 8pm | Penuche’s on Hanover

Music from The Band, Phish, The Grateful Dead and more! This band comes out of shakin it trading post in Hooksett where they play weekly, now come see them in your favorite bar! They have an incredible ability to flawlessly jam from the Rolling Stones into a Pink Floyd into a grateful dead song. their undeniable chemistry, and ambitious exploration as well as the love for all different bands they cover makes them an absolute must see! Date Night in the Art Studio | 6pm or 7:30pm | Studio 550

Date Night in the Pottery Studio is held both Friday and Saturday nights, either 6-7:30 or from 7:30-9PM! Pick your day, pick your time, and have fun! Everything for a COUPLE is included with the listed price of $60 (materials, tools, instruction, etc.). We will guide you through a basic pottery lesson and then you will be set free on the wheel to make your own creations! One piece per person is included in the workshop, but if you make more pieces and you want to keep them, it is just $5 to keep each extra piece. The piece you make will be available for pick up three-four weeks after your date. Usually walk-ins are fine, but we encourage you to call ahead to reserve a spot. A Film About Coffee | 7pm | A&E Coffee and Tea

A&E Coffee & Tea is celebrating their second year anniversary in Manchester with a series of coffee and fun events running July 14 through July 17, 2016. A&E Coffee & Tea will be showing a movie in the outdoor courtyard of Brady Sullivan Plaza. A Film About Coffee follows the production of coffee from farms in Honduras and harvests in Rwanda to its global consumption. Listening to farmers, buyers, roasters and baristas about the crop’s economic and environmental implications both locally and abroad, the narrative travels to coffee shops in Tokyo, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco and New York, with stops in between. Dropping in on artisanal cafes to investigate how each prepares its own unique cup, the film opens a window into the little-understood world of specialty coffee. More here!

Great Blue | 9pm | Penuche’s on Hanover

Great Blue is a Reggae Rock n’ Funk group from Wilton, CT. Originating in High School, this quartet now plays many shows throughout the Northeast. Each show contains endless improvisation, a unique song list, and new surprises to keep the audience on their toes! Great Blue has recently released their third studio album, “Safety First.” It features brilliant hooks and groovy tunes spanning genres from reggae to psychedelia, country and more! Second Hand Smoke | 9:30pm | The Shaskeen

SecondHand Smoke is a Sublime tribute band based out of Leominster ,Mass. They were formed in November of 2014 and consists of bassist (Jamie) guitarist (Michael), drummer (Anthony), lead guitarist and vocals (Rob) and DJ and percussionist (Josh). More information here!

Historical Manchester History Run | 8am-10am | Runner’s Alley

Our Historical Running Tour returns to Manchester! Join local runner and historian Stan Garrity as he brings runners along a 5 mile run to historical parks throughout Manchester. This event begins at Runner’s Alley on 36 Hanover Street at 8 AM and is free to the public.  There is a suggested $5 donation that will go towards the Hope for New Hampshire Recovery. Live music in the Courtyard | 5pm | A&E Coffee and Tea

A&E Coffee & Tea is celebrating their second year anniversary in Manchester with a series of coffee and fun events running July 14 through July 17, 2016. Live music in the courtyard kicks off with a series of local musicians starting at 5pm. Electronique, featuring Jason Drapeau, headlines at 8pm. Electronique describes themselves as “a New Wave, Italo Disco inspired visual dance machine”. Get ready to dance and have some fun with Electronique. More here!

A&E Coffee & Tea is celebrating their second year anniversary in Manchester with a series of coffee and fun events running July 14 through July 17, 2016. To wrap up the events, A&E Coffee & Tea is hosting a coffee roasting demo in the courtyard starting at 11am. Learn about the craft of coffee roasting with our Roastmaster, Mark Small. More here!
