Weekend Watching Aug-12-2015

While the TD Bank Summer Fest continues next week, there is still plenty going on in Manchester this week! One ‘must do!’ on any summer bucket list has got to be the We Are One Festival! The festival is the marriage of the Latino Festival and the African Caribbean Celebration and is this Saturday, August 15th from 11:00am-8:00pm! Thursday, August 13th

Cigna/Elliot 5k Road Race | 6:00pm | Veterans Park

The 23rd Annual Cigna/Elliot Corporate Road race brings over 5,000 runners to downtown! It’ll be a fun night of company bonding, and over 20 different awards to all types of finishers! Please note, this race will cause road closures throughout downtown. See the list of closures here.

The Little Mermaid | 6:30pm | The Palace Theatre

“A lively musical rendition of the favorite children’s tale, this show tells the story of a little mermaid who takes a chance and follows her dreams.” Tickets: $9. More info here!

World Quilt Show — New England XIII | 10a-6pm | The Radisson

“Mancuso Show Management presents the World Quilt Show – New England featuring the premier of the 2015 World Quilt Competition XIX, one of the most internationally diverse events of its kind in the world of quilting and the textile arts. Workshops and lectures will be presented by an outstanding, internationally renowned faculty. Friday, August 14th

Clue: The Musical presented by the Majestic Theatre | 7pm | Manchester Community Music School

Join the Majestic Theatre for Clue: The Musical! The show “brings the world’s best suspects to life and invites the audience to help solve the mystery: Who killed Mr. Boddy, in what room, and with what weapon?” This show draws on audience participation making it a fun, interactive show you won’t soon forget! Saturday, August 15th

We Are One Festival | 11am-8pm | Veterans Park

The We Are One (WAO) Festival brings together the oldest African and Latino-centered cultural festivals in New Hampshire. It will feature a combination of acts and vendors from the Latino Festival, held annually by Latinos Unidos, and the African Caribbean Festival, held by the Ujima Collective. Starting at 11am, this festival will provide an opportunity to experience in depth the art, music, and cuisine of these diverse cultures!

Zectangle Workshop | 1pm-5pm | Studio 550

“Come learn the peaceful art of Zentangle! Whether you?ve been drawing your whole life or you?re new to your creative side, Zentangle is a fun and relaxing artform. Zentangle is a pen on paper method of pattern drawing. The class will start from the ground up in this class so all experience levels are welcome. All the supplies you’ll need are included in your class kit, which is included in the cost of the workshop.” $40 for the workshop. More information here!
