With all of this snow, it’s only fitting we continue on the theme of Winter fun from Manchester’s past! Last week we reminisced about the Ski Tow Hill at the Elms Resort in Goffs Falls that was operated from the 1930s-1970s. As promised, this week is all about the Toboggan Slide located at the Elms.
The slide or “chute” as it was often referred to was located right next to the tow line on the Elms’ hill. There was about 80-100 feet of vertical –just enough to get some speed! Sadly, the Elms’ ski hill no longer exists as it was mined for sand.
The Manchester Historic Association had some photos in their wonderful archives of the chute. Enjoy!
