Capturing the holiday spirit here in Manchester is not very hard. It seems after Thanksgiving meals are finished, the lights turn on and downtown turns into a truly magical place!
One of my favorite parts of the holidays in MHT is all of the beautiful and unique storefronts all decorated in the holiday spirit. This year, we brought back the downtown storefront decorating contest ‘Window Wonderland’ on our Facebook page. This year’s entries are beautiful and they absolutely add to the festive feeling downtown! You can vote for your favorite here. Hurry! Voting ends tomorrow, December 19th at noon!
Holidays in Manchester’s past were celebrated just the same! I’ve found some great shots in the Manchester Historic Association‘s archives of the festive spirit. I love the photos of the Christmas trees, especially the photograph from 1935 of the Lake Avenue Firefighters decorating their station tree! Trixie also dug up some wonderful old postcards of sledding here in Manchester. You’ve got to love winter fun!!!
PS: The Manchester Historic Association’s famous yearly calendars are now for sale! You can buy them and other goodies from MHA at their table at our market, today from 10:00am-5:30pm at the Brady Sullivan Plaza! Don’t miss your chance to get one!
