Weekend Watching August-13-2014

We only have a few weeks left of summer, which means only a few weeks left of Weekend Watching! This summer seems to have flown by! Here at the Intown office we can’t believe our TD Bank Summer Concert Series are over and that we’re already planning the Taste of Downtown!

…enough about end of Summer talk–let’s focus on what we have left to enjoy!

 Friday, August 15th:

High School Musical Jr.
7:00pm @ The Palace Theatre

The Palace Youth Theatre presents High School Musical Jr! Follow “the Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations, and look forward to the new year” with a change-up in the status quo at East High! Tickets are $10 for children (12 and under) and $12 for adults. More info here.

Open Mic Night
7:00pm-9:00pm @ City Cafe

Join City Cafe for an evening of music, poetry, and comedy provided by YOU and other talented artists in Manchester. Originals and/or covers are welcome. More information here.

Saturday, August 16th:

We Are One Festival
11:00am-8:00pm @ Veterans Park

This year the Latino Festival and African Caribbean Celebration are teaming up to bring you New Hampshire’s largest multicultural festival!  The We Are One (WAO) Festival brings together the oldest African and Latino-centered cultural festivals in New Hampshire. It will feature a combination of acts and vendors from the Latino Festival, held annually by Latinos Unidos, and the African Caribbean Festival, held by the Ujima Collective. Starting at 11am, this festival will provide an opportunity to experience in depth the art, music, and cuisine of these diverse cultures! Austin Mahone
7:00pm @ Verizon Wireless Arena

Pop sensation Austin Mahone makes a stop on his national tour in Manchester! Opening are The Vamps, Fifth Harmony and Shawn Mendes. Tickets are still available! More information here.


Sunday, August 17th:

“Nunsense: The Mega Musical” – Presented by the Majestic Theater
2:00pm @ Holy Cross Hall

Nunsense: The Mega-Musical Version is here! All the fun of the original “Nunsense” has been super-sized! “Mega-Nunsense” starring the original five nuns also features a few new characters including the never-before-seen infamous convent cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, plus a youth ensemble! In addition there is a new song (“One Last Hope”). More info here!
