Weekend Watching 7-16-2014

Everyone loves music, whether it’s upbeat and fun, like this week’s featured song, or mellow and thoughtful. This weekend there are a bunch of musical events happening downtown, including an open mic night and performances by local artists as well as international superstars! Check them out below and get ready for a great weekend!


All weekend:

Live Free or Die Tattoo Expo

The 2014 8th Annual Live Free or Die Tattoo Expo will be hosted this weekend at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester! The Live Free or Die Tattoo Expo is one of the largest tattoo conventions around, featuring an eclectic mix of tattoo artists and vendors from all over New England, as well as tattoo contests, art contests, live music and more. New Hampshire Fisher Cats 

The Fisher Cats are back in Manchester this weekend! Watch a fireworks show at Friday’s and Saturday’s games, and on Sunday the first 1,000 fans will receive a FREE Fisher Cats hat! See the schedule and buy tickets here.

Live music 

There is always live music downtown in Manchester! This weekend check out The Shaskeen, Milly’s Tavern, Penuche’s on Hanover, and more for some great live music! Check out this week’s Hippo for a complete list of live music venues. 


Friday night, July 18th:

Java Jams with Alli Beaudry
7:30pm – 9:30pm @ Cafe La Reine

Come down to Cafe La Reine for an evening of original art and music with Alli Beaudry! Singers and songwriters of all ages are welcome to join us and perform some original tunes. 7:30pm @ Palace Theatre

Bruno Mars with Special Guest Aloe Blacc

Jimmy Keys LIVE

Amoskeag Studio presents Ian Ethan Case
8:00pm – 10:00pm @ Amoskeag Studio

Acoustic double-neck guitarist Ian Ethan Case describes his guitar as “the most effective and intuitive means I’ve found to translate into sound the things I’m hearing in my head.” Ian Ethan’s strikingly unconventional, self-invented approach to the double-neck guitar is both magical to hear and fascinating to watch. Sunday, July 20th:

Mother Daughter In-Studio Retreat
3:00pm – 5:00pm @ Jeca Yoga

“Join us for this ultimate bonding yoga experience between a mother and daughter. During this two hour retreat, you’ll have the opportunity to foster a closer relationship and strengthen communication with your daughter. We incorporate many fun games, activities and a craft while practicing the traditional aspects of yoga.” This workshop is guided by Katherine Laurendeau and is appropriate for kids ages 7-13 with their moms. Splash Canvas – Summer Art Showcase & Live Art Battle
