Treat Mom Like a Queen, In the Queen City

This year, make mom feel like a Queen and treat her to a Royal Experience in Downtown! There are PLENTY of places open in Downtown, Manchester this Sunday, May 12th!

What is great about this city, is that there is always something new and exciting for outsiders…and something great to re-discover for those who live here! This year, forget about the “One Free Car Wash,” and “I’ll do Laundry for a week,” coupons and give mom a day she will remember!

I have many ideas for Mother’s Day Activities …but first…I will give you a run down of what I plan to do with my Mom this Sunday, May 12th.  We might start the day at Jeca Yoga, a yoga studio in the Langer Mill on S. Commercial Street, for a $15 Detox Yoga Class at 11am. There is free parking here, so we will then take a walk to the entrance to “The Hands Across The Merrimack Bridge.” It starts at the baseball stadium where the Fisher Cats play on the river’s east side, a paved walkway runs parallel to the Merrimack and shortly comes to a fork. Going left will bring you around a  curve to the approach of the Hands Across the Merrimack bridge! At the entrance to the bridge is a large bull statue, which is a perfect photo opportunity! This bull statue was built in honor of the meat packing industry, which was once not far away from that very spot.LaurenandMom

When we return to our car, we will then drive up to Elm Street for lunch at Cafe La Reine, AKA “The Queen’s Cafe,” for the city’s best cappuccino and some sandwiches (all named after famous Royals!)

We then plan to spend some time at  “Art Fest,”  at the Currier Museum of Art. The event is free, with the standard museum admission (Adult $10, Senior $9, Student $8, Children under 18 free). The schedule of events is exciting, and you also get to check out the museum if you have never been. Activities include an Artisan Food Market, Library Book Sale, Artist Demonstrations, Art Making for the whole family, Outdoor Activities, Artisan Craft Market and Face Painting (Art Fest Starts Saturday, May 11th and goes through the 12th).

Around, 5pm, we are going to scoot over to 900 Degrees on Dow Street for some personal pizzas! On Sundays, there is always a live blues jam from 5-9.  Then we will venture back up to Elm Street and choose a place for dessert. Some great options are Baked, Ben & Jerry’s, Toot Berry Frozen Yogurt…and Finesse Pastries! All of these locations are friendly for all of the ages in your family 🙂
